He added that short and long-term projects are underway to renovate the city’s historical sites, expand its green space and reorganize its urban structure.
The official described the event as a good opportunity for registering the city on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
“A dossier for the city will be drawn up and submitted to UNESCO in three years,” he said, adding illegal constructions, which damage the historical outlook of the city, would be banned.
Located near Mashhad, Tous has embraced the tomb of poet Ferdowsi, the creator of the Persian epic Shahnameh.
Museum of Tous is another important historical site of the city, which hosts valuable objects dating back to various eras in history.
Harouniyeh and the tomb of the prominent Iranian poet Mahdi Akhavan Sales are among other attractions of the city.
