UN participating in Tehran book fair

'UN’s participation in the Tehran International Book Fair is a unique opportunity not only to share with public some fresh UN publications and multimedia materials, but also to discuss UN values, agenda of UN Secretary-General and UN work in Iran,' the United Nations Information Center in Iran said in a statement on Friday.

“UN in Iran for the 15th year participates in the Tehran International Book Fair. This year the Book Fair is held at the Imam Khomeini Mossala (Prayer ground) from May 2nd till May 12th,” said Leila Joudane, UN Resident Coordinator in Iran.

Tehran International Book Fair, spanning an area of 130,000 square meters, is hosting a number of publishers from Germany, China, Italy, Oman, Hungary, Austria, Russia and Iraq.

Serbia is the guest country and Tunis (the capital city of Tunisia) is the guest city of this year's Tehran International Book Fair.

The number of visitors during the first three days of the fair hit 300,000 that has been up by 20 percent compared to the same figure last year, Hossein Safari, executive manager of the fair told reporters on Friday.
