UNESCO awards Iranian scientist

Professor Soodabeh Davaran received the award at the UNESCO Headquarters in the French capital Paris on Friday, said the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology on Saturday.
According to IRNA, Davaran is an associate professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine at Tabriz University of Medical Science, and currently teaches organic chemistry, polymer, synthesis of organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry.
The professor, a member of the Iran’s Chemical and Engineering Society, received her Master’s degree in organic chemistry in 1990 and her PhD in polymer science in 1996, both from the Tabriz University.
Davaran came first in the Basic Science Research category of the Ninth Razi Festival in Pharmacy in 2007, and was ranked among the Cambridge university’s Top 100 Scientists in 2008.
