UNESCO pays special attention to world heritage sites

Ms. Esther Kuisch Laroche made the remarks in an inauguration ceremony for training workshop on planning and making capacity for administration of world heritage sites in Iran at Golestan Palace on Saturday.

Referring to importance of holding such workshops, she said that employees of the world heritage sites are vanguards of protecting such heritages.

She added that considering urban development around such sites and environmental dangers, concentration of efforts to strengthen the monuments and managerial planning are of great importance.

Laroche also underlined the importance of training on decision making process and encouraging local communities to help preserve the world heritage monuments.

Polish Ambassador to Tehran Juliusz Gojlo, who was present in the ceremony, said that his country lost 50 percent of its cultural heritage during World War II but it rebuilt them after the war.

The training workshop lasts for 10 days.

Iran has 75 nationaland 17 world cultural heritage sites.
