UNESCO Representative Visits Pardis Technology Park

The Park is run under supervision of President’s Deputy for Science and Technology and a fourteen-entity Board of Trustees headed by the First Vice President. Its goals are the commercialization of research results and establishing sustainable ties between universities and industries.
During the visit, the UNESCO Representative was briefed on the history and activities of PTP, and the two sides discussed possible areas of cooperation.
Ms. Kuisch-Laroche was particularly interested in hearing about the Technology Transfer & Exchange Network (TTEN) and suggested that perhaps other neighboring countries under UNESCO’s Tehran Cluster Office might be interested in joining the network.
She was also briefed about the Mustafa Prize; a science and technology award granted to the top researchers and scientists of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states biennially.
The Mustafa Prize seeks to encourage education and research and is set to play the pioneering role in developing regional relations between science and technology institutions working in the OIC member countries. It also aims to improve scientific relation between academics and researchers in order to facilitate the growth and perfection of science in the OIC member states.
The Prize is awarded in four categories, namely "Life Science and Medical Sciences”, "Nano Science and Nanotechnologies”, "The Information and Communication Science and Technologies”, and "Top Scientific Achievement in other fields”.
The Head of the Executive Committee of the Mustafa Prize asked for UNESCO’s support in nominating international scientists in these four categories who could be part of the award jury.
The visit concluded with a tour of two companies based in the Park. One working on science education and the other on green energy-saving technologies.
