UNESCO to study Qeshm Geopark case for Heritage Site

According to Mehr News Agency, Alireza Amri-Kazemi, a senior adviser to head of Qeshm Geopark said that UNESCO officials would assess the material evidence on the ground in the island.

"They will arrive on August 5 and will document the Geopark during field evaluation to eventually approve the Geopark. The final decision will be announced in October in Britain during International Conference on Global Geoparks," he added.

"This will be a difficult test for the island to win the approval and a historic day for the Geopark to enter UNESCO's World Heritage Site officially. Only performance of the Geopark and its field capabilities would win the favor of the assessors in their ultimate verdict," Amri-Kazemi underlined.
