WCC President: Handicrafts play important role in int'l relations

Shan made the remarks at the 18th World Crafts Council meeting in Isfahan.

He said that creating healthy regional and global competition is so important for promotion and progress of handicrafts industry.

Shan said that Isfahan is a symbol of world cultural history with more than one thousand years record as the pillar of the Silk Road trade activities between the East and West and transfer of cultures which contributed to the civilization of the international community.

The 18th General Assembly of World Crafts Council kicked off in Isfahan on Sunday morning in presence of Vice-President and Head of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) Masoud Soltanifar.

Around 200 international characters from 90 countries have attended the assembly.

The WCC is a subsidiary of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The general assembly will work for four days.
