He continued: Today is a significant day for Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi, Iran and world of Islam and I congratulate our nation and wise people throughout the history who have tried to
enrich and expand this culture the beginning of Mashhad 2017.
Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance added: Selecting Mashhad as cultural capital of Islam is not a coincidence, but it's because of holiness of this city and holy shrine of 8th Imam Ali-ebn Moosalreza.
Salehi Amiri continued: presence of his holiness Samen-ol Hojaj Ali-ebn Moosalreza has made Mashhad a holy land and turned it from cultural capital of Iran to cultural capital of Islam and soon it will be cultural capital of the world.
Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance added: Samultainety of this selection and Christmas is a very blessed coincidence and I carry presidential message to people of Khorasan, Mashhad, students, teachers and foreign guests and convey his greetings to you.
