Five natural monuments listed as national natural heritage

The provincial General Director of the Cultural Heritage Organization, Farzin Haghparast said that two local caves and three old trees were registered as national natural heritage after required investigations were carried out and approved by the registration council.
The 150-200million year old ‘Ili-Kohool-Eskandar’ Cave belongs to the tertiary geological period and is located in Eskandar village near provincial capital of Tabriz. Also, the 150-250 million-year-old AghBolagh Cave is located in Hashtrood village.
Youz-Bashi plane tree in Ahar, ‘Zavieh’ tree in Ajab-shir and 170-year-old ‘Lahijan’ tree in Tabriz were registered in Iran’s Natural Heritage List.
Haghparast said that the monuments will be cared and supervised by Iran’s CHO after being registered and that their registration will have positive effects on the provincial tourist attraction.
