Mohammadian head of Organization for Educational Research and Planning, accompanied by some his deputies visited Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi in his residence.
Mentioning publishing 1250 titles of textbooks in recent years, Mohammadian said: Only in last year we managed to publish more that 250 new textbooks, Imam Hossein’s encyclopedia in 24 volumes and some different religious Dictionaries.
Denying removal of some contents from textbooks, he said: There is this 0ne “Reform Document” which we act upon and there is no content removed without a justified reason.
Declaring that there is nothing dictated to educational system from abroad, he added: items related to “Eid Nowrouz” are transferred from “Social Educations” to “Devine Gifts”, because of their religious nature. There are also contents like Hedjab (woman cover), Traveler Prayers, Rahian Noor and Hazrat Masoumeh added to it and not a single verse of Qur’an has been deleted.
Insisting that Islamic values cannot be removed from textbooks, whatsoever, he reminded: We have made a list of these articles for anybody who wishes to see them, items like Islamic Awakening, Palestine, Mass Prayers, World of Islam, Demonstrations, Haj, Sacred Defense, Islamic Revolution and so on are repeated from time to time in textbooks.
It is required by law that textbooks must be revised every five years and yet, we never delete Islamic contents and values and if some of such items should be replaced, it would be announced.
There are some people who wouldn’t want “Reform Document” to be executed, Head of Organization for Educational Research and Planning continued: We managed to prepare this document against all odds a few years back but still we sense dangers threaten it, because there are some people who want to establish certain schools and teaching what seems to be of western essence.
He concluded: In preparing educational contents, we do not tolerate any protocol or document dictated from the west and only follow our Supreme Leader and Islamic rules.
