He added that Iran needs development projects. Since the country boasts numerous historical sites ― some of which are below the ground ― projects to develop railroads or subway lines may be harmful for such sites.
Rastidoust said an archeology map would include an assortment of information which could be useful for organizations.
“If the archeology map of the entire country is prepared, the historical sites will be specified. Therefore, any action in historical sites will be done according to regulations and principles.
“If we provide this information to organizations before they undertake any development project such as dam construction, we will prevent harm to cultural heritage sites.
“We can identify whether a site has heritages or antiquity by visiting the area and collecting evidence.”
Also, aerial photos can reveal whether the soil texture is natural, he added.
