Textbooks: Learning Tools and Historical Records
The unveiling of a bibliography of lithographic textbooks and the launch of an electronic textbook archive took place recently, attended by prominent figures including Gholamali Haddad Adel, a member of Iran's Cultural Revolution Council; Gholamreza Amirkhani, head of the National Archives and Library Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran; and Ali Latifi, deputy minister and head of Iran's Educational Research and Planning Organization.
According to the organization's Public Relations and International Affairs Department, Dr. Ali Latifi highlighted the profound historical and cultural value of textbooks during the event. He praised his colleagues' efforts and stated: "A textbook is more than a learning resource—it's a historical document capturing a nation's cultural, social, political, and economic realities. From distribution methods and pricing to notes on the back cover, every detail offers valuable insights."
Dr. Latifi added: "Looking to the past lights the way forward. By tracing changes in course titles and content, we can redesign future curricula more thoughtfully." He described these initiatives as a first step, calling for stronger internal support and collaboration with strategic partners to preserve this national heritage effectively.
Enhancing the Electronic Textbook Archive
Dr. Latifi stressed the importance of upgrading the technological infrastructure for the electronic archive, noting: "Achieving sustainable, coherent access is our next priority, and we'll pursue it vigorously." He concluded by thanking colleagues and guests, expressing hope that the organization fulfills its duty in safeguarding and passing on Iran's cultural legacy.
